African Safety, Health and Environment Professional Association (ASHEPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Cecilia Mbewe as ASHEPA Country Representative for Malawi.

In this volunteer leadership role, Ms. Mbewe will support ASHEPA’s mission to strengthen Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) practice by expanding professional engagement in Malawi, promoting collaboration with national stakeholders, and advancing initiatives that improve workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development.

About Ms. Cecilia Mbewe

Ms. Mbewe is an experience Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) professional. She is passionate about elevating workplace safety standards and promoting sustainable development in Malawi and across Africa.

Ms. Mbewe has extensive experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring SHEQ management systems and compliance programs across sectors including construction, mining, and engineering. She has contributed to key initiatives such as the Mamaland Tree Afforestation Project and the Kasiya Rutile Mine Project, supporting strong compliance and performance aligned with international standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.

Her leadership vision is centered on strengthening occupational health and safety frameworks in Malawi and Africa, advocating for policy reforms, and expanding access to practical SHEQ support.
