ASHEPA Appoints Mr. Surafel Demeke Getu as Membership Coordinator for Africa

African Safety, Health and Environment Professional Association (ASHEPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Surafel Demeke Getuas as ASHEPA Membership Coordinator for Africa.

In this volunteer leadership role, Mr. Surafel will support ASHEPA’s mission by strengthening membership growth and engagement across the continent. He will contribute to improving member onboarding and retention, supporting communication and coordination with country and regional representatives, and helping to build an active, connected network of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) professionals across Africa.

About Mr. Surafel Demeke Getu

Mr. Surafel Demeke Getu is an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) professional. He brings practical experience supporting large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects, including mega hydropower developments, major road construction works, pile and drilling operations, telecommunications infrastructure, and manufacturing facilities.

Mr. Surafel has extensive experience developing and implementing HSE plans, policies, and safe operational procedures across construction and manufacturing environments. He is committed to continuous professional development, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of health, safety, and environmental best practices. Through his professional association work, he aims to share knowledge, uphold ethical standards, and contribute to the collective advancement of occupational health and safety excellence across Africa.
