ASHEPA Appoints Mr. Calmin Andrew Henneberry as Southern Africa Representative

In this volunteer leadership role,
Mr. Henneberry will support ASHEPA’s mission of strengthening Safety, Health
and Environment (SHE) practice across Southern Africa by promoting professional
collaboration, supporting regional engagement, advancing workplace safety
culture, and driving strong governance and assurance aligned with international
best practice.

 

 

About Mr. Calmin Andrew Henneberry

Calmin Andrew Henneberry is a highly respected Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) leader with extensive years’ of experience managing risk across some of the world’s most demanding and high-risk environments. His career spans the petrochemical sector (including oil refineries, large government infrastructure programs, telecommunications across Africa, and complex international operations including humanitarian and military-supported projects in high-conflict regions. He is known for combining strong technical competence with practical leadership focused on governance, assurance, and building safety cultures that protect people while improving operational performance and cost efficiency.

 

 

International and High-Risk Leadership Experience

Mr. Henneberry has worked extensively across Africa, and multiple markets through multinational organizations. As an expatriate in multiple Africa countries, he served as Senior
QHSE Manager, leading safety strategy across projects. He strengthened compliance and performance by restructuring QHSE teams, improving subcontractor oversight, and introducing observation and road risk programs that supported safer behaviors and reduced incidents.

 

 

Leadership Style and Expertise

Mr. Henneberry is known for leadership that is firm, fair, and people-focused. His expertise includes governance and compliance, risk assessment, incident investigation, contractor management, road risk and transport safety, emergency and crisis management, training and mentoring, strategic planning, and financial control. He has also served as an accredited assessor and trainer, contributing to the development of the next generation of safety professionals.
